Police Investigating Suicide on Northbound US-23

7/14/14 - Multiple police agencies are handling portions of an investigation related to a shooting incident on US-23 this afternoon in Green Oak Township. Green Oak Township Police Chief Jason Pless confirms that they will be handling the suicide portion of the investigation since it happened in their jurisdiction. Washtenaw County authorities had issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for a suspect and vehicle involved in a stabbing in Ypsilanti. A Northfield Township officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop the suspect, who ultimately shot himself inside the vehicle on northbound US-23, north of 8 Mile Road. Northbound US-23 was completely shut down to traffic at both Barker Road and 8 Mile Road, with traffic is being diverted up Whitmore Lake Road. It finally re-opened around 6:30pm. (JM)
