Tuesday Final Opportunity for Input on Hartland

7/16/14 - One final public meeting has been scheduled for the Hartland Township community to weigh in on the municipality’s Safer Roads Plan next week. The plan was created by a citizen task force to address the maintenance and improvement of main roads within the township, particularly those that are heavily traveled and provide alternatives to M-59 and Old US-23. The task force has recommended that the plan be financed with a ten-year millage that would cost the average homeowner $150 per year. Township Manager James Wickman says an unparalleled level of input has been received from residents from town hall meetings to surveys and online interaction. The final opportunity for public input on the Safer Roads plan will be during the township board meeting on Tuesday, July 22nd at 7pm, prior to the citizen task force makes final recommendations. It’s expected that the board would approve ballot language in August, with the millage question going before voters in November. The plan is available for online viewing through the link below. (JM)
