About 2,300 homes in Livingston County’s Cohoctah Township plus a small portion of Shiawassee and Genesee counties were without power as of noon Sunday. Affected are homes on Allen, Argentine, Beard and Gannon roads, along with connecting roads. Bryan Wheeler, a spokesman for Consumers Energy, says the cause of the outage was a flock of birds that came into contact with equipment at a substation in the Byron area, knocking out the substation. Power has been out since about 3:40 a.m. and was expected to be back on by about 1 p.m., according to Wheeler. (TT)
