Donations are being sought by a local program looking to help individuals that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The tropical storm is said to have been a Category 4 when it made its way into Texas and has devastated a number of areas. To help those impacted by the storm, Leadership Livingston is collecting supplies and donations which group members plan to take down to Houston, Texas next week.

Leadership Livingston is a program through Cleary University and the Brighton and Howell Chambers of Commerce that is comprised of current and emerging leaders in the region. The program’s most recent project was to develop CRY, or Crisis Relief for Youth, which collected supplies in the event of a crisis for children two years old and younger. Program Facilitator and Project Coach Deb Drick says the supplies collected through CRY will be taken to Houston, as well as whatever can be collected before then.

Drick says the group is in contact with several organizations they plan to give the supplies to that can hand them out quickly. Items being sought are diapers, clothing, baby formula, baby wipes and bottles. Community members can also make cash donations through a Go Fund Me page that will be used to purchase those supplies.
