It's hard for me to believe I've been in radio for over twenty years. I had no idea the journey I was about to make when I got my first job in Boyne City in 1986. The studio was built in the refrigeration section of a former dairy. I had a music show, read news headlines, produced commercials, sold advertising, repaired equipment, and shoveled the northern Michigan snow. While this first stint as a DJ was actually entirely enjoyable, I soon realized that news was my true calling.

I took a few years to attend college and ended up as the News Director of a station in Monroe. During my six years there I learned the craft of radio news and also became the co-host of the morning show with some new guy by the name of Mike Marino. Yep, same guy. It's a small world isn't it. My pursuit of radio news took me back to the Detroit area and I eventually landed at WWJ News Radio 950. However, living and working in the big city left much to be desired. When the News Director position opened at WHMI I jumped at it and have found the great balance of a rewarding career and quality of life. My wife Carolyn and I live in the Howell area with our two kids; Joshua and Emily.
