MARQUETTE, Mich. (AP) - An Upper Peninsula county has accepted a $60,000 federal grant to keep an eye on routes to the U.S. border. The Mining Journal says the money will help cover overtime for Marquette County police who patrol areas on or near Lake Superior, including road, snowmobile and marine units. The county's emergency management coordinator, Teresa Schwalbach, says the sheriff's office will determine schedules. She says the sheriff must keep track so the county can be reimbursed. Commissioner Johnny DePetro says Marquette County doesn't have to post a matching grant. Schwalbach says the county will be working with state, tribal and federal law enforcement groups.
