A prescribed burn took place at Lyon Oaks County Park Monday.

Oakland County Parks and Recreation conducted the prescribed burn in cooperation with the City of Wixom Fire Department, which advised the public via social media that there was no cause for alarm and smoke would be visible in the area throughout the day. The burn is taking place over 43 acres of upland and wetland habitats in the northeast section of the park.

Officials say the burn will assist in managing invasive species and restoring ecological functions to natural communities. Facebook photo. (JM)
