Currently there are not enough local homes to accommodate abused and/or neglected children to keep them close to their home of origin in order to maintain stability in their lives. Sat Jun 1 Big Red Barrel/Unused Medication Disposal

The Big Red Barrel will be at Recycle Livingston Saturday June 1, 2024 from 9 am to 1 am to collect unused medications and used needles. Recycle Livingston is located at 170 Catrell Drive in Howell. This is a free service. No questions asked. Put pills in a zip lock container, they can be mixed together. We prefer not to have the medicine container. Keep liquid medications separate. Dump into a zip lock bag with enough paper towel to soak up the liquid. Needles must be the proper disposal container, either purchased from a pharmacy or use a plastic laundry detergent bottle. Reseal the bottle and tape it. Do your part to keep medications from being abused. Do not flush unused medication. The Big Red Barrel Project is part of Livingston County Community Alliance.

The Main St Mile is a one mile road race starting and ending in downtown Brighton, MI. The event will have 5 races: Competitive, Open, High School, Dogwatch Dog Mile, and Kids Mile. All net proceeds from the event will go towards a yet to be named downtown/community project. Event will take place on June 8th, 2024. Campers will learn and experience what it takes to be a firefighter and/or police officer. Camp activities will promote development in leadership, teamwork and hopefully inspire campers to consider a future career as a Livingston County Firefighter and/or police officer.

The 25th annual Open Gate Summer Garden Tour will be held on Sunday, July 21st from 10:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Eight beautiful and innovative gardens in and around Linden, MI and Fenton Township will be on the tour. Experienced gardeners and homeowners will be on hand to answer questions. Your tour admission includes guides, light refreshments, merchant discounts and an OGGC drawing for a garden bench. Tickets this year are $15.00. Children 12 and under are FREE.
