Foster Parent Informational Meeting
Thinking of becoming a foster parent? Livingston County Catholic Charities (LCCC) is holding an informational meeting for persons interested in learning more about foster care. Currently there are not enough local homes to accommodate abused and/or neglected children to keep them close to their home of origin in order to maintain stability in their lives. Saturday morning the Brighton Veterans Day Parade will leave the Brighton High School at 10:00 AM East on Main Street to the Mill Pond and Veterans Memorial.

"Sweetheart" Premiere At Howell Theater
The Historic Howell Theater will be hosting the world premiere of the film "Sweetheart" from Carolann Elliot. The premiere will be a large, public event including a red carpet meet and greet with the cast and crew, the very first screening of the film, a cast talk-back, and more! The event begins at 5:00pm and ends at 10:00pm. Although the event is held in Howell, the audience will consist of people from all over Michigan.

Big Red Barrel/Unused Medication Disposal
The Big Red Barrel will be at Recycle Livingston Saturday June 1, 2024 from 9 am to 1 am to collect unused medications and used needles. Recycle Livingston is located at 170 Catrell Drive in Howell. This is a free service. No questions asked. Put pills in a zip lock container, they can be mixed together. We prefer not to have the medicine container. Keep liquid medications separate. Dump into a zip lock bag with enough paper towel to soak up the liquid. Needles must be the proper disposal container, either purchased from a pharmacy or use a plastic laundry detergent bottle. Reseal the bottle and tape it. Do your part to keep medications from being abused. Do not flush unused medication. The Big Red Barrel Project is part of Livingston County Community Alliance.

St Mary Country Style Breakfast

Hartland Audubon Nature Club
On June 4, 2024, Hartland Audubon Nature Club will have a potluck at 6:30 and at 7 PM Mary Bohling, MSU Extension District 12 Director will present on a project she led to create the ByWays to FlyWays Birding Trail. The trail features over 20 locations in southeast Michigan and southwest Ontario where birding enthusiasts can search for raptors, songbirds, shorebirds and more. The discussion will include how the project was funded, planned, implemented and marketed.

Main Street Mile
The Main St Mile is a one mile road race starting and ending in downtown Brighton, MI. The event will have 5 races: Competitive, Open, High School, Dogwatch Dog Mile, and Kids Mile. All net proceeds from the event will go towards a yet to be named downtown/community project. Event will take place on June 8th, 2024.

Speakers from IHA Medical Group, a therapist from Livingston County Catholic Charities and a veteran talk about the effects that isolation and loneliness can have on you mentally, emotionally, and physically. Hear suggestions on programs that Livingston County Catholic Charities can offer to help combat isolation in your life and learn who to call for resources in the community to address health issues.

Brighton Area Fire Authority and Brighton City Police department are working together to offer a wonderful 7 day camp opportunity to the youth of Livingston county ages 14-18. Campers will learn and experience what it takes to be a firefighter and/or police officer. The 39th Annual Frank A, Urban Memorial 2024 Golf Outing will be held at Riverbank Golf Course, South Lyon, Michigan. Register by June 14, 2025. The Knight of Columbus Golf Outing is on Saturday, June 22, 2024, starting at 8:00 am. Sign-up starts at 7:00 am. $120.00 per golfer. Open Gate Garden Summer Walk
The 25th annual Open Gate Summer Garden Tour will be held on Sunday, July 21st from 10:00 am to 5:00 p.m.
Eight beautiful and innovative gardens in and around Linden, MI and Fenton Township will be on the tour. Experienced gardeners and homeowners will be on hand to answer questions.
Your tour admission includes guides, light refreshments, merchant discounts and an OGGC drawing for a garden bench.
Tickets this year are $15.00. Children 12 and under are FREE.
Tickets may be purchased from any Open Gate Garden Club member or at one of the following venues: Bordine’s of Grand Blanc, Carlsons’ Greenhouse, Gerych’s Flowers & Events, Heavenly Scent Herb Farm, Yard ‘N Garden Center & Florist in Fenton and the Linden Florist in Linden.
