Authorities have identified a man believed to have died from an electrical accident while working at a local church this past weekend.

24-year-old Eric Joseph French of Holly passed away Sunday following the incident at Spirit Life Christian Church on M-59 between Hughes and Argentine Roads. Crews with the Howell Area Fire Department responded and found French in the attic rafters. Firefighters and paramedics began life saving efforts and French was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident per protocol. Sheriff Mike Murphy tells WHMI an official cause of death is pending but no foul play is suspected and it’s believed that French was electrocuted.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday at St. John Catholic Church on North Adelaide Street in Fenton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to French’s family for his children. A link to French's obituary is provided. (JM)
