"Reflections of Autumn" Event To Benefit Disabled Veterans

A weekend-long event to benefit disabled veterans kicks off in Brighton tomorrow afternoon.
Chapter 125 of the Michigan Disabled American Veterans (MDAV) organization will host “The Reflections of Autumn” at the Kent Lake beach site in Island Lake State Park. The weekend’s events begin on Friday, at 2pm, with a POW escort to the Michigan Vietnam Moving Wall. Then on Saturday, the annual Reflections of Autumn Car Show will be held from 12 to 4pm. Other festivities include live music, Native American drumming, an award ceremony, and a display of military vehicles and equipment.
While admission to the park and event is free, vehicle registration for the car and motorcycle show is $10 in advance and $15 the day of. Proceeds will go to the MDAV, which supports veterans and their families through a number of services. Residents displaced by Hurricane Harvey will also benefit, as the event’s location will serve as a collection site for donations from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon.
