Thousands Without Power as Result of Wind Storm
October 8, 2017
Most of the outages in Livingston County appeared to be concentrated in an area north of Howell in the Byron-Henderson-Brewer Road area and southwest of Howell in the Pingree-Mason Road area. The outages are mostly due to trees or limbs falling on power lines. The power went out just before 10 p.m., while many people were glued to their TVs watching the Michigan-Michigan State football game.
Several roads in the Howell area were blocked for several hours due to downed trees, including Byron Road and Henderson Road in Howell Twp. and Pingree Road in Marion Twp. Many areas experienced trees being blown down by the force of the wind, with one report of a large pine tree damaging a garage.
A DTE spokeswoman estimated that the power will be restored to most affected areas by 11:30 p.m. tonight, although some individual customers may not have their power back on until sometime Monday.(TT)
