New Hudson Man Jailed For Assaulting Infant
April 2, 2018
A New Hudson man is facing felony charges in regards to injuries sustained by his girlfriend’s infant child.
23-year-old Seth Blumberg is jailed on charges of assault with intent to murder and 1st degree child abuse after a 5-month-old suffering from multiple injuries consistent with child abuse was brought to a local hospital. The child reportedly had internal injuries as well as visible injuries to the face, head, and abdomen. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says the mother and child were living with Blumberg at his mom’s residence in New Hudson and it was determined the child has only been in the care of herself or her boyfriend in the days prior to being taken to the hospital. The mother reported she had begun noticing bruising on the child earlier in the week and contacted the child’s physician. As the child’s bruising became more pronounced, she sought immediate medical care.
Blumberg was located at his place of employment and interviewed by detectives, who believe the abuse only occurred while the mother was gone from the house. Blumberg was then placed under arrest and lodged him in the Oakland County Jail, where he remains under a $500,000 cash bond. A probable cause conference is scheduled for April 11th. The baby, meanwhile, has since been released from the hospital. (JK)
