Hartland Township’s premier snowy-weather community event is back this Saturday.
Winterfest is taking place from noon to 6pm at Heritage Park. This annual family-friendly event is free to the public thanks to community sponsors and volunteers.
Hartland Township Manager Bob West says Winterfest grew from humble beginnings into a great event with activities designed to appeal to all ages and weather conditions. Attendees will find sledding, an ice skating rink, ice carving demonstrations, knockerball, live reindeer, and an assortment of entertainment. There will be lots of craft activities to take part in, like rock painting, bird feeders and jewelry making. Winterfest-goers can also build snowmen and make colored snow angels. The large heated tent will be back, complete with concessions and entertainment. Outside of it will be bonfires with all the ingredients for making s’mores.
All Saints Lutheran Church at the eastern edge of the park will be hosting the Hartland SOUP-Winterfest Edition inside the church at 1:30. For a $5 donation, attendees can contribute to a charitable project while enjoying a hot bowl of soup.
At dusk, the annual Winterfest fireworks show will light up the February sky. West says it is an extraordinary show that can be seen from multiple areas of the township due to the leaves being off the tree.
