The Huron Valley Schools Board of Education has selected a candidate to fill its vacant seat.

The Board of Education recently interviewed four candidates ultimately choosing Amy Grzymkowski for the open seat. HVS Board of Education President Sean Carlson said, in a release, that they were pleased to have a strong pool of candidates to choose from, and that it was gratifying to see so many community members come forward with the goal of giving back.

Gryzmkowski has a history of volunteer work within Huron Valley Schools. As co-chair of the Citizens for Quality Education Committee, she helped with the successful passage of a $200-million bond and sinking fund in 2019. Professionally, Grzymkowski is the director of the Highland-White Lake Business Association and as the marketing and human resources manager for the Western Oakland Transportation Authority.

Grzymkowski said she was humbled and honored by her selection to the Board, and that she looks forward to working with the other Board members and the administration to continue to position HVS as a destination school district.

Grzymkowski will be sworn in as part of the Board’s February 7th meeting.
