An annual event that gives area residents a chance to maximize their holiday giving while helping community members in need has arrived.
The Livingston County United Way’s Matching Money Monday is taking place today.
It is the single largest one-day fundraiser in Livingston County and this year’s event is said to be more important than ever as many are struggling and in need of assistance with food, shelter, and utilities.
All donations received will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to the total funds available thanks to generous sponsors and community partners.
Livingston County United Way Executive Director Carrie Newstead said the number of struggling, working families in Livingston County is greater than ever. Over the past year, she said they’ve seen many people working harder yet not getting ahead due to increased costs of groceries, gas, utilities, and more - the most basic services.
