Cleary University will host its second annual Summerfest celebration this Friday.

Tacos, tequila and tunes will highlight the evening’s activities from 6 1o 10 pm at Lake Trust Stadium on Cleary’s campus in Genoa Township.

Guests can sample different tacos while sipping on a variety of tequila cocktails and listening to The Laith Al-Saadi Trio.

Cost is $50 a person and includes tasting tokens for food and drinks, and entry to the concert. Designated drivers pay $30. Their ticket includes food samplings, soft drinks and the concert.

The evening’s finale features a fireworks show by Dueling Dragons.

Throughout the evening, guests can sample tacos and other tapas from these food trucks: Whoa! Tacos; Peace, Love & Tacos; Hickory BBQ & Grill; and Reginas Authentic Mexican; and enjoy tastings of margarita-style cocktails crafted by mixologists from Tap-In’s of Howell.

The evening’s entertainment begins with the Detroit Drive, who will perform top 40 hits, classic rock, modern country and some of their own original music. Summerfest’s headliner is the Laith Al-Saadi Trio. In 2016, Laith Al-Saadi won America’s hearts and a spot in the finale of “The Voice.” The trio’s music blends blues, soul and classic rock. Al-Saadi is a graduate of the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor School of Music, and an Ann Arbor native.

WHMI's Dan Martin will be live from 3 to 6pm with The Box That Rocks.

Proceeds from Tacos, Tequila & Tunes will help fund scholarships for students in need at Cleary. A press release that details Cleary University Senior Julea Fisher’s story is attached.
