Volunteers showed up in a big way for the Livingston County United Way’s 21st annual Day of Caring.

The Day of Caring is the largest one-day community service event in the entire county. This year’s event was held Wednesday, August 9th.

In a single day, officials say 757 amazing volunteers completed 50 projects - which included repairing decks, cleaning a roof, power-washing siding, painting, household cleaning, yard clean-up, and more.

This year, the United Way received several project requests from seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities that needed help to continue living safely in their homes. Those simple projects are said to make a huge difference.

30 different companies gave their employees time to volunteer, during their normal work hours, to give back to the community. The United Way said that not only allows them to build relationships with their co-workers but also helps build relationships with other local businesses. Additionally, there were 8 different school teams and 6 different family teams at this year’s event.

The United Way stressed that without the generosity of all of the volunteers and local businesses, the Day of Caring would not be possible. The non-profit further thanked all of the sponsors and support that enabled them to provide materials to make all of the needed repairs at local homes.

A press release is attached. Various photos and projects from the day can also be viewed on the United Way Facebook page. That link is provided.
