All Aboard for the 2024 Christmas Season.

The Salvation Army of Livingston County will kick off its annual Red Kettle season with an event this weekend - The Blessing of the Bells.

Each year, the local Corps says a blessing over the bells that the men, women and children use to help raise awareness and much needed monetary donations.

The community is encouraged to attend the kick-off this Saturday at 9am at the Howell Walmart store, off Latson and Grand River.

The Salvation Army’s Christmas campaign goal will be announced, as well as how people can help. Attendees will also take part in the bell blessing ceremony - wishing good health, safety, and prosperity for all this holiday season.

Lieutenant Robert Leach recently spoke with WHMI's Mike Scott and stopped by the studios to talk about the campaign and upcoming season, as well as increased community need.

The campaign accounts for around 1/3 of the non-profits annual budget, and provides for year-round programs and services for those in need in the local community. All funds stay in Livingston County.

Those wanting to help in other ways can volunteer to bell ring at www.registertoring.com, sponsor a kettle, or donate.
