LAKE LEELANAU, Mich. (AP) - Northern Michigan craftsmen are turning the downed trees from a severe storm into symbols of American spirit. WPBN-TV reports that Scott Sheehan and Brandon Steck of Leelanau Rustic in Lake Leelanau are crafting a supply of wooden U.S. flags. The raw material was culled from the thousands of trees that fell during an August 2015 storm, blocking roads and themselves taking down power lines. Sheehan says they are conversation pieces for customers, conjuring memories among those who endured the storm. He adds that "it's something they cherish." --- Information from: WPBN-TV, http://www.tv7-4.com
