DETROIT (AP) - A man accused of striking a Detroit police officer and driving away has been charged with reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of a crash. The Wayne County prosecutor's office announced charges Tuesday against 19-year-old Jonathan David Cole of Belleville in the crash that severely injured Officer Fadi Shukur. Court records didn't list a lawyer for Cole, who is due back in court later this month after being ordered held Tuesday on $150,000 bond. Police had said a suspect turned himself in Saturday afternoon after the early morning hit-and-run on the city's west side. Police Chief James Craig said the officer suffered a brain injury. Investigators say the officer was working to disperse a crowd after a party and the driver was speeding.
