Cleary University’s softball team won a national championship on Thursday, beating St. Mary’s of the Woods 2-1 in the USCAA title game in DuBois, Pa. Kaitlin Dormire hit a two-run homer for the second day in a row against St. Mary’s to provide the offense, and Riley Thompson struck out eight for Cleary.

Dormire was 4-for-9 over the four games of the tournament, and all four hits were homers. She and Jordan Schneider, who hit 11 home runs during the regular season, will return next year.
