They love to hit. They love to stick. And they love to stuff the run while turning opposing offenses one dimensional.
They are the Bash Brothers, Milford’s brash outside linebackers who love to bash.
Ike Stufft is the tough guy who worked magic in the weight room over the summer to become more intimidating inside. The other Bash Brother Kaden Johnson is more sleek and slippery. He not only stuffs the run but is a menace in pass coverage.
Milford sported the best defense in the Lakes Valley Conference last season, but lost a half dozen All Conference defensive players to graduation. The Bash Brothers stayed behind and have kept the edge in their senior season.
Last season, the Mavericks were the only conference team to hold opponents to fewer than 200 points, allowing just 130. They are at it again, allowing just 19 points in two games. That includes a running stuffing 21-6 victory over South Lyon East.
Milford and the Brash Brothers invade the Jungle Friday night when they face off against South Lyon (2-1 overall, 2-1 in conference play). Both teams need a win to keep pace with conference heavyweight and favorite Walled Lake Western (3-0, 3-0).
South Lyon already got its shot at Western, losing 49-7 on its home field. Now it gets its shot against Milford (2-1, 2-0), one of three unbeaten teams in the conference.
Stufft and Johnson live near each other, study film together, work out together and bash together. That’s what makes Milford so dangerous in the LVC.
